This 1-day gorilla trekking in Rwanda is another rewarding safari that will make your visit to the ‘land of a thousand hills’ interesting.
The safari takes you to Volcanoes National Park, the home of endangered mountain gorillas. This park is not only famous for mountain gorillas but also known for the rare golden monkeys, as well as over 2,000 bird species that enhance your experience.
Detailed Itinerary:
- Arrive at the airport in Kigali early in the morning and immediately drive to Volcanoes National Park, the home of mountain gorillas. The journey takes about 2-3 hours’ drive from Kigali. Make sure that by 7:30 am you are already at the main office finalizing your payments and attending a briefing from the park officials.
- After this briefing, head to the forest with an armed ranger guide and start looking for these primates. Trekking takes 2-8 hours, depending on the movements and location of the animals.
- Lunch will be served. Upon reaching the gorillas, an additional hour will be given for you to be in their presence to take photos and videos.
- Return to the office for your certificate and later drive back to Kigali city, then to the airport in preparation for your evening flight.
