Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at the Airport in Kigali and Transfer to Bukavu, D.R. Congo
Pick up by your driver guide from Kigali International Airport who will give you a briefing about the safari, and later transfer you to Kahuzi-Biega National Park near Bukavu. Traverse through the villages of Rwanda and experience the beautiful scenery of numerous hills.
Make stopovers at some points to stretch and grab a picnic lunch. Proceed with the journey to Bukavu, a drive covering 6-7 hours. Check in at your booked lodge for dinner.
Day 2: Trek the Eastern Lowland Gorillas
This is the day you’ve been waiting for. Begin with a well-served breakfast at your lodge and later head to the Kahuzi-Biega National Park headquarters for payments and a briefing session about gorilla trekking. After the briefing, enter the forest and begin searching for these endangered lowland gorillas.
Gorilla trekking usually takes 2-8 hours, depending on the movements of these giant animals. After encountering them, an additional hour will be given in their presence to take photos. Report back to the main office for your certificate and drive back to the lodge for dinner.
Day 3: Fly Back Home
On the last day of your safari, start with a delicious breakfast at your lodge. Drive back to Kigali city and then to the airport for your flight back to your home country.
