Detailed Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival at Kigali and Transfer to D.R. Congo
Our company guide will warmly welcome you at the airport and assist with loading your luggage into the car. Afterward, the driver’s guide will provide a briefing about the safari. Begin the journey to Goma, D.R. Congo. Upon arrival, check in at the booked hotel/lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Virunga National Park Gorilla Trekking
After an early breakfast, head to the starting point in Bukima for a briefing and grouping, accompanied by a ranger guide. Don’t forget your gorilla permit, as it is essential for trekking these amazing creatures. Once you encounter a gorilla group, you’ll be amazed by their size, communication skills, tree-climbing abilities, grooming behaviors, and more. Spend an hour in their presence before returning to the starting point to meet your driver and drive back to the lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, relax or take a simple nature walk or community walk, depending on your energy level.
Day 3: Mount Nyiragongo Hike
Enjoy a delicious breakfast in the morning before driving to the hike’s starting point, where you’ll meet a park ranger guide. Porters will be available to help carry your luggage during the hike. Lunch will be served along the way as you ascend to the top of the hike, where you’ll spend the night. Enjoy spectacular views during both the day and night from this vantage point. Dinner will be provided at your accommodation.
Day 4: Descend from the Mountain. Drive to Kigali
Wake up at the summit where you spent the night and have breakfast before beginning the descent down the volcano. Your driver guide will be waiting at the base camp to start the journey back to Rwanda. Arrival in Kigali will be in the late evening, where you’ll have dinner and stay overnight in the city.
Day 5: Fly Back Home
Enjoy a delicious breakfast early in the morning before preparing to depart. Depending on your flight time, you can opt for a short city tour around Kigali to explore its attractions or visit the Genocide Memorial Museum or local craft shops to purchase souvenirs. Your driver guide will then drop you off at the airport for your return flight home.
