5-Day Uganda Gorilla Trekking & Wildlife Safari Adventure

You are going to spend 5 days in the Pearl of Africa, Uganda, visiting different destinations like Queen Elizabeth National Park, home to the rare tree-climbing lions found in the southern Ishasha sector. Take part in a game drive around the Kasenyi plains and a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel.

Travel further southwards to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for trekking endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. The safari starts and ends in Kampala/Entebbe, where you’ll take a flight back to your country.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kampala and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Meet and greet by our company driver/guide at Entebbe Airport, who will give you a short briefing about your 5-day adventure in Bwindi and Queen Elizabeth National Parks.

This park is famous for sheltering the rare tree-climbing lions and is one of the premier savanna parks in Uganda, attracting thousands of tourists every year. Drive through the equator for a few minutes of photography, then proceed to check-in at the lodge amidst abundant wildlife and unparalleled savannah scenery.

Day 2: Morning game drive and boat cruise

Wake up to a hearty breakfast and drive to the park offices where you will meet the ranger guide who will lead you on the trails during the game drive. While on this morning game drive through Kasenyi plains, keep an eye out for animals like elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, antelope species unique to Uganda, and a variety of bird species, while also capturing photos of the park’s crater scenes.

After the game drive, return to the lodge for lunch, then head out for a boat trip on the Kazinga Channel. Here, you will see water animals like hippos (this park hosts the highest concentration of hippos in the world), crocodiles, water birds on the river banks, and enjoy the breathtaking scenery. Afterward, return to the lodge for dinner.

Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park via Ishasha sector

Wake up early for breakfast and then drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in the extreme southern part of Uganda. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is home to the mountain gorillas, a major draw for visitors to Uganda.

Pass through the Ishasha sector for a chance to spot the rare tree-climbing lions, which can only be seen in Queen Elizabeth National Park of Uganda and Lake Manyara National Park in northern Tanzania. After lion tracking, continue your journey to Kanungu or Kisoro District, where Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is located in any sector of your choice.

Day 4: Gorilla trekking

Wake up early to embark on the gorilla trekking adventure. Enjoy breakfast and then proceed to the park headquarters with packed lunch and drinking water. You will meet the park ranger guides who will brief you on what to do and not to do. They will then lead you into the forest to track a gorilla family.

You will spend only one hour in the presence of these mountain gorillas, observing their behaviors and taking photos. Remember to book your gorilla permit well in advance, about 3 or 4 months before the trekking day, through a recognized and licensed local tour company.

After the gorilla trekking experience, return to the lodge for relaxation, followed by dinner or a visit to the Batwa community, depending on your return time.

Day 5: Travel back to Kampala. Fly back

On the last day of your 5-day Bwindi and Queen Elizabeth National Park safari, enjoy a delicious breakfast, check out from the lodge, and begin your drive back to Kampala. Stop at the equator in Kayabwe for photographic moments and have lunch en route. Continue to the airport and fly back to your home country.
