Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: From Kampala to Kibale National Park – Bigodi Wetland Walk
Meet your Uganda driver guide and depart Kampala for Kibale National Park, a tropical forest park located in western Uganda. The journey takes approximately 5 to 6 hours, passing through Mityana, Mubende to Fort Portal and Kibale. Enjoy lunch in Fort Portal or at the lodge. Relax and then visit Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, home to numerous primates, 138 bird species, and colorful butterflies.
The Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary walk lasts about 2 hours, offering insights into community-based tourism. Spot birds like the Great Blue Turacos, primates such as Red-tailed Monkeys, Olive Baboons, Grey-cheeked Mangabeys, Black and White Colobus Monkeys, and other mammals like mongoose and bushbucks.
Day 2: Kibale Morning Chimpanzee Trekking & Depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park
After an early breakfast, proceed for chimpanzee tracking briefing and allocation of park guides. Chimpanzee tracking starts at 8:00 am and lasts 2-4 hours, including 1 hour of close encounters.
Kibale National Park is rich in primates, including L’Hoest’s Monkeys, Red-tailed Monkeys, Red Colobus Monkeys, Baboons, Vervet Monkeys, and more.
After chimpanzee trekking, return to the lodge for lunch and check out. Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, a 2-3 hours’ drive with magnificent views of Crater Lakes en route.
Day 3: Enjoy a Game Drive & Boat Cruise on Kazinga Channel
Start with an early morning game drive along Kasenyi track, exploring Kasenyi plains for 2-3 hours. Expect sightings of lions, buffaloes, elephants, waterbucks, birds, and antelopes.
Return to the lodge for lunch and then enjoy a boat cruise on Kazinga Channel starting at 2:00 pm. Spend 2-3 hours spotting hippos, crocodiles, birds, elephants, and buffaloes cooling off at the shores.
Day 4: Game Drive in Ishasha Sector. En Route to Bwindi National Park
Depart Queen Elizabeth National Park for Bwindi National Park, a 4-5 hours’ drive with a game drive en route in Ishasha sector, known for tree-climbing lions and Topis. Capture photos of tree-climbing lions and enjoy a wilderness lunch before continuing to Bwindi.
Day 5: Guided Gorilla Trekking Experience in Bwindi National Park
After breakfast, embark on a guided mountain gorilla trekking adventure in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Receive a briefing on gorilla trekking guidelines before starting the 2-6 hours trek in the forest. Enjoy 1 hour with the mountain gorillas for photography and observation. Return to the lodge and visit the Batwa pygmies in the evening.
Day 6: Departure to Entebbe/Kampala
Enjoy an early breakfast, then depart for Entebbe or Kampala. En route, stop for photography at key spots like the Equator crossing before reaching your destination.
