Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Day 1: From Kampala to Kibale National Park- Bigodi Wetland walk
Meet and greet your Uganda driver guide, after, leave Kampala for Kibale National Park, a tropical forest park located in the western side of the country. Your journey involves driving from Kampala through Mityana, Mubende to Fort Portal to Kibale and this covers about 5 to 6 hours. Settle for lunch at Fort Portal or drive straight to the lodge to be served a delicious meal. Relax, and after, connect to Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary a home to numerous primates, birds (138 bird species all reside here) and colorful butterflies.
Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary walk lasts for about 2 hours and the entire experiences gives a deep insight into the community-based tourism. Enjoy sight of birds like the Great blue turacos; primates such as red-tailed monkeys, olive baboons, grey-cheeked mangabeys, black and white colobus monkeys; other mammals like mongoose, bushbucks.
Day 2: Kibale morning chimpanzee trekking & depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park
Delicious breakfast served to you early, after, exit your accommodation for briefing about chimpanzee tracking rules and allocation of park guides. Actual chimpanzee tracking starts at 8:00am and each park guide will lead a group of 6 guests. It will be a moderate walk through Kibale Forest, expecting to take 2-4 hours inclusive of 1 hour of close encounter.
Kibale National Park is a rich primate destination and expect to see more than chimpanzees. You will also come across primates such as L’Hoest’s monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, red colobus monkeys, baboons, vervet monkeys and many more.
After this chimpanzee trekking experience, proceed to the lodge for leisurely lunch served by the best waiters/waitresses. Later, check out of the lodge and be transferred to Queen Elizabeth N/Park, a 2-3 hours’ drive journey with magnificent view of Crater Lakes enroute.
Day 3: Enjoy a game drive & boat cruise on Kazinga channel
Early morning game drive starts before sunrise and this will be carried out along Kasenyi track. The extensive Kasenyi plains takes 2-3 hours for you to explore during a game drive and expected animal sighting include lions, buffaloes, elephants, waterbucks, birds and antelopes.
When driving back to the lodge, keep an eye on more wildlife and settle for lunch. A boat cruise on Kazinga channel starts at 2:00pm and expect to spend 2-3 hours which comes with amazing sights of aquatic life including hippos, crocodiles, birds plus elephants, buffaloes that come to cool themselves at the shores.
Day 4: Game drive in Ishasha sector. Enroute to Bwindi National Park.
Depart from Queen Elizabeth N/Park for Bwindi National Park 4-5 hours’ drive road trip with enroute game drive expected at Ishasha sector. The Ishasha sector is one of the most rewarding sectors in Queen Elizabeth National Park and it is found in the Southern side.
Ishasha sector is specifically visited for watching tree climbing lions and it is also the best spot to find Topis. Capture the best pictures of tree climbing lions in their hide outs, enjoy wilderness lunch afterwards and proceed to check in at the lodge in Bwindi.
Day 5: A guided gorilla trekking experience in Bwindi National Park.
On a bright day, leave the lodge energetic for your actual mountain gorilla trekking adventure in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Before hitting the jungles for a search for mountain gorillas, expect to be briefed on guidelines for gorilla trekking. 2-6 hours will be spent in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest while searching for mountain gorillas and photography, face-to-face encounter will be for 1 hour. Enjoy a pack of snacks or food that you carried and after, start walking back, then in the evening, visit the Batwa pygmies.
Day 6: Entebbe/Kampala
Breakfast be served to you early, after, meet your driver guide for return trip to Entebbe or Kampala. Enroute, have a fun photography experience in key areas like Equator crossing and after, proceed to Kampala or straight to Entebbe.
