Start your expedition in Uganda with a visit to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a spectacular conservation area where half of the world’s endangered mountain gorillas all live. After, cross to Zanzibar to soak yourself into the white sand beaches. This spectacular archipelago also features tropical islands, and it is popular not only its unique culture and history, but also stands out as the leading spice producer.
Gorilla trekking is with no doubt every nature lover’s dream adventure on an African safari and interestingly, this package has you covered on a visit to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Located in Southwestern Uganda, Bwindi was founded in 1991 and it stands out as one of the Africa’s biodiverse destinations. Its creation in 1991 was primarily to shelter the endangered mountain gorillas plus other floral and faunal species.
Of the world’s 1063 mountain gorillas, Bwindi is a home to over 459 and over 20 gorilla families have undergone full habituation. Tracking any of the park’s gorilla groups is possible from any of the 4 regions; Nkuringo, Buhoma, Rushaga and Ruhija sectors.

Day 1: Trip to mountain gorilla destination- Bwindi N/Park
Full day dedicated for you to travel from Entebbe/Kampala to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park located in Southwestern Uganda. Drive through the main districts/cities of Masaka-Mbarara to Kabale town in a 4×4 tourist car. A journey to Bwindi covers from 8 to 9 hours’ drive, but en-route, there is a chance to get out of the vehicle to stretch a little at Equator crossing where you will also take pictures or carryout a water experiment to determine the two hemispheres of the earth (The Northern & Southern).
Continue with a short drive to Igongo or a nearby hotel around Mbarara for lunch, then proceed with a drive to Southwestern Uganda, a region known for its breathtaking landscape. Check in at the comfortable place of stay in or nearby Bwindi for a relaxed evening, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Enjoy the best of Bwindi gorilla tracking
Rise up early and have a hot cup of tea/coffee, after, expect to join the rest of trekkers for briefing about Bwindi mountain gorilla trekking guidelines at the park offices. The park official will carryout this exercise, and also allocate to you an experienced park guide, gorilla families. At 8:00a.m, the actual walk starts through the jungles with park guide and being a long day, we recommend that you come with a bottled water, packed lunch or some high energy snacks.
Your fitness level matters a lot, but a search for mountain gorillas often lasts for 2-6 hours. This covers a special 1 hour of a close encounter and after, settle for lunch in the jungles before returning to the park offices. Rest a little and later, proceed to the Batwa or Bakiga community for a cultural experience.
Day 3: Fly from Kihihi/Kisoro to Entebbe International Park (EBB), & connect to Abeid Airport.
After an early breakfast, drive to Kihihi/Kisoro airstrip where you will fly up to Entebbe Airport. From Entebbe, get a connecting flight to Abeid Amani Karume Airport located on Zanzibar Island where you will meet a driver for transfer to your boutique hotel for a relaxed evening.
Day 4 to 6: Experience the best of Zanzibar Beach Holiday
You have 3 days to explore and experience African beach experience at Zanzibar Beach located along the Indian Ocean coast. You will have a range of activities or experiences ranging from visiting the Stone Town (this involves visiting cultural & historical sites such as the old slave market, House of Wonders, Old Fort etc), Spice Island plus snorkeling or diving at Nungwi.
On the 6th day, you may consider exploring Jozani Chwaka Bay N/Park, also most popular for its exceptional wildlife species especially the endemic Zanzibar colobus monkeys and forest birds. This will be explored during a guided forest walk/primate tour.
Day 7: Departure
Set off to Stone Town for a short shopping, then transfer to Abeid Airport for departure to the next destination or back home. This will mark the end of your unforgettable 7 days Uganda gorillas & Zanzibar tour.
