7-Day Bwindi Gorilla Trekking & Masai Mara Wildlife Safari

You are going to spend these 7 days in two East African countries: Kenya and Uganda. While in Uganda, be ready to explore Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and take part in the popular mountain gorilla trekking experience, which takes at least 7 hours. In Kenya, you have a chance to see one of the world’s wonders – the wildebeest migration in Masai Mara National Park, as well as the Big Five mammals.

This 7-Day Uganda Gorillas and Masai Mara National Park Safari will start from Uganda and end in Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Uganda, the Pearl of Africa

Upon arrival at Entebbe Airport, you will meet the driver guide who will introduce you to Uganda – the Pearl of Africa, and then drive you to the booked lodge in Kampala for lunch, depending on your time of arrival. Optionally, you can take a city tour around Kampala after lunch.

Day 2: Road Trip to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Wake up early for breakfast, check out from the hotel with your luggage, and your driver guide will drive you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The drive to the home of mountain gorillas will take about 11 hours, with a stopover at the equator for photography and a short visit.

Have lunch at Igongo Cultural Center and then continue the drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Check in at your booked lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking and Batwa Experience

On this day dedicated to gorilla trekking, wake up early for breakfast, then drive to the park headquarters for a briefing by the ranger guide. Since each gorilla family can be visited by a maximum of 8 people per day, you will be divided into groups and led into the forest to search for these mountain gorillas by the ranger guide, who is well-equipped.

Trekking to find these gentle mountain gorillas will take about 2-7 hours, depending on their movements the previous day. Although the trek may take the whole day, you will only spend one hour in their presence. Return to the lodge for lunch, and in the evening, participate in the Batwa cultural experience.

During the Batwa cultural experience, enjoy traditional dances, learn about their forest lifestyle, and consider purchasing a souvenir from the Batwa as a memento of your visit. Dinner at the lodge.

Day 4: Fly to Kenya and Drive to Masai Mara

Enjoy breakfast in the morning, and your driver guide will drive you to Kisoro or Kihiihi airfield for a flight to Nairobi or directly to Masai Mara, depending on availability. Our company representative will welcome and brief you, then drive you to one of the lodges near Masai Mara National Park, where you will have lunch and spend the evening enjoying the fresh air from the park.

Day 5-6: Masai Mara Exploration

Spend these two days exploring Masai Mara, where you have the opportunity to spot the Big Five animals: elephants, buffaloes, leopards, rhinos, and lions. Also observe other wildlife such as hyenas, zebras, and a variety of bird species. For avid birders, Masai Mara offers opportunities to add to their checklist. If you want to witness the wildebeest migration, visit Masai Mara National Park between July and October.

During the wildebeest migration, witness hippos and crocodiles as they interact with zebras and wildebeests migrating to Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park, adding color to your tour and showcasing the beauty of Africa.

Consider exploring Masai Mara from a hot air balloon to gain a different perspective on the landscape and wildlife.

Day 7: Return to Nairobi and Departure

After completing all planned activities on this 7-day Uganda Gorillas and Masai Mara Safari, return to Nairobi Airport and fly back home according to your schedule.
