Nothing guarantees you a magical encounter with the massive and endangered mountain gorillas in the wild like a gorilla trekking experience. With our expertly crafted 3-day Bwindi tour from Entebbe, you have a 99.9% opportunity to immerse yourself in the jungles and see a mountain gorilla family—not in a zoo, but in their natural habitat.
Your gorilla expedition begins in Entebbe, crossing via the Masaka-Mbarara-Kabale route, with an alternative option of crossing from Rwanda via the Chanika/Katuna borders to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. During this trip, you will also make a stopover at the Equator crossing during your 8-9 hour road trip.
Detailed Itinerary:
Day 1: Entebbe to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (Uganda)
Transfer from Entebbe city to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, your preferred mountain gorilla trekking destination. An experienced driver guide will accompany you throughout the journey, briefing you on this short 3-day Bwindi tour from Entebbe.
Driving via the Masaka-Mbarara route offers plenty of opportunities for stopovers en route. A must-visit is the Equator crossing, followed by lunch at the Igongo cultural center. After lunch, continue to Kabale, enjoying picturesque views of the countryside, and check in at your lodge early.
Day 2: Bwindi for Mountain Gorilla Trekking and Batwa Pygmies
Meet the park officials at the briefing point (Buhoma, Ruhija, Nkuringo, or Rushaga), where you will be assigned to a gorilla group to visit and a park guide to escort you. This unforgettable primate tour can last between 2 to 6 hours, depending on where the gorilla family is feeding, with a guaranteed one-hour close encounter.
As this is an unpredictable adventure, we recommend carrying snacks and bottled water. Return to the lodge and later visit the Batwa pygmies’ cultural community for an afternoon cultural experience.
Day 3: Bwindi to Entebbe (Uganda)
On the third day, check out of the lodge, meet your driver guide, and transfer back to Entebbe. The 8-9 hour journey includes lunch en route at a hotel in Mbarara or the Igongo cultural center. After lunch, proceed to the Equator or Mpambire Drum Makers before being dropped off at your hotel in Entebbe.
