Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi from Kigali
Kigali is the capital city of Rwanda, neighboring Uganda in the southern parts. You can use either of the two borders to cross into Uganda from Rwanda – Katuna or Cyanika. Depending on your arrival time, be picked up by the driver guide who will provide a quick briefing about the safari.
Embark on your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, which will take approximately four to five hours, depending on your pace and sightseeing interests along the way. Check in at the lodge for a late lunch and overnight stay.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi
Have an early morning breakfast and set off for the journey to the park offices. Upon arrival, a park ranger guide will warmly welcome you and provide a briefing about the trekking experience and group assignment. Each group consists of eight members permitted to trek a gorilla family. You are recommended to spend three hours total on the trek: one hour moving in search of the gorillas, one hour in their presence, and another hour returning to the starting point to meet your driver guide.
Enjoy your allocated time, take photos, ask your guide questions, and after the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation.
Day 3: Return to Kigali
On the third day, it marks the end of your safari in Bwindi. Rise early from your warm bed, enjoy a delicious breakfast with a cup of coffee or tea, and explore around the lodge to spot beautiful butterflies, birds, or flowers if you’re interested. Check out and begin the drive back to Kigali.
