From mountain gorilla trekking in 2 protected areas- Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (Uganda) and Volcanoes National Park (Rwanda). Cross to the Magical Kenya and Tanzania where you will have the best of the big game and wildebeest migration in Maasai Mara National Reserve and Serengeti National Park.
Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Kampala- Bwindi Impenetrable N/P (Uganda)
Breakfast to be enjoyed in a hotel in Kampala, and after, you will set off for a long day drive (about 8-9 hours) to Bwindi National Park, located in Southwestern Uganda. Before you get to Bwindi, you will make a stopover at Equator crossing to take pictures or carryout water experiment to determine the Northern & Southern hemispheres. Leave Equator crossing for lunch at Igongo cultural centre, and later, connect to your first destination- Bwindi Impenetrable Park where gorilla trekking will be done the next day.
Day 2: Bwindi gorillas -Uganda
Leave your lodge for briefing at Buhoma offices of Bwindi National Park. This sector is comprised of 4 habituated gorilla families (Mubare, Habinyanja, Katwe and Rushegura) and only one will be visited today. Trekking Bwindi gorillas takes 2-6 hours depending on your fitness level, location of gorillas and other factors. Your entire gorilla trek will be led by an armed park ranger guide and maximum of one hour will be given for you to enjoy a close encounter with gorillas. After the long day interaction with gorillas in the wild, you return to stay at the lodge or continue in the afternoon with cultural visit to the Batwa community.
Day 3: Bwindi- Katuna/Chanika- Volcanoes Park (Rwanda)
Drive from your Bwindi to Volcanoes National Park, Northwestern Rwanda and you will cross via Katuna or Chanika border. Have a long day of chilling at the lodge or visit the Iby’Iwacu village for a cultural tour, entertainment and also learn more about the distinct Rwandese cultures, traditions and practices.
Day 4: Trek Rwanda gorillas (Volcanoes N/Park)
Have a delicious breakfast, after visit Kinigi to be allocated to any of the 12 gorilla families set for tourism in Volcanoes N/Park. Briefing about gorilla trekking safety measures will also be conducted today, and you start your trek at 8:00am with an experienced guide.
Day 5: Transfer to Nairobi
Wake up early, enjoy your breakfast and later check out. Meet the driver guide for transfer to Kigali where brief city tour will be done and you will be visiting key areas especially Gisozi/Kigali genocide memorial, local markets (Kirimonko market in Kigali city), craft shops, etc. Continue to the airport to take your flight to Nairobi where you will be transferred to the lodge or hotel for relaxation.
Day 6: Masai Mara -wildebeest & big game safari
Delicious breakfast served to you in the morning, after, leave Nairobi for Maasai Mara Game Reserve located in Southwestern Kenya. This is one of the most popular destinations in Kenya and also one of the largest reserves that guarantee true African wilderness experiences. The Mara Reserve is home to more than wildebeests, and accessing it from Nairobi takes 6-7 hours.
Day 7: Game safari fully day-Masai Mara
Explore Masai Mara Reserve’s rich ecosystem the whole. Enjoy sights of large and small mammals including all the big 5 game- buffaloes, rhinos, leopards, lion, plus other mammals that live here such as giraffes, cheetahs, wildebeest, hyenas. This reserve also shelters up to 500 bird species, and hundreds of them will be spotted along the way while on your game safari.
Day 8: Game safari to Serengeti NP (Tanzania)
Hefty breakfast early in the morning, and after, leave Masai Mara Game Reserve for Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. Serengeti Park lies within the Northern circuit in Tanzania, and you will access it via Isebania border after clarification with authorities at the border. This will be 7-8 hours’ drive road trip, and you will check in at the lodge for overnight stay.
Day 9: Game viewing Serengeti -full day
Explore and experience the sweeping savannas of Serengeti National Park full day and amidst wildlife. A complete day game viewing at Serengeti will include spotting leopards, cheetahs, lions, elephants, wildebeest, zebras, waterbucks, elands, impalas, giraffes, buffaloes, etc. Settle for lunch, and drive towards the Kopjes to see more lions while they watch their prey.
Day 10: Serengeti- Arusha (Tanzania)
After an early morning breakfast, leave the lodge for Arusha but with en-route guided game drive. Catch a glimpse of wildlife in Serengeti including warthogs, wildebeest, giraffes, dik-dik, buffaloes, lions, buffaloes, hartebeest, elands, hyenas, bird species etc. The driver guide will take you up to your hotel or airport in Tanzania for departure back home.
