This safari will take you to three countries in East Africa for different activities. In Uganda – the Pearl of Africa, you’ll visit three national parks including Bwindi where you will trek mountain gorillas, Kibale National Park for chimpanzee trekking and Queen Elizabeth National Park for a boat cruise and game drive.
Rwanda – the land of a thousand hills, is home volcanoes national park which is also one of the gorilla destinations in the world and you will take part in mountain gorilla trekking and a city tour around Kigali.
While in Kenya, you will visit Amboseli National Park with good views of Mount. Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa, Lake Nakuru – a soda lake that attracts millions of flamingos and Masai Mara game reserve for wildebeest migration.
Detailed Itinerary.
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and transfer to Volcanoes National Park.
Welcome to Rwanda! Meet our company driver guide who will take you through a short briefing about this 15 days Uganda Rwanda gorillas and wildebeest migrations in Kenya thereafter, he will drive you to the hotel for lunch.
After lunch, drive further to Volcanoes National Park where mountain gorillas spend their lifetime. A drive takes 2-3 hours and you will check in at the hotel.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park.
Wake up as early as possible for breakfast. Meet the driver for a transfer to park headquarters for briefing about mountain gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park. After the briefing, you will be assigned to a ranger guide, well-armed to help search for the allocated gorilla family for your trekking experience.
Move through the slippery trails, hike through the jungles and go down the valleys searching for mountain gorillas. Time taken to search for these apes is sometimes unpredictable because they keep moving from one place to another looking for food.
Despite the hours you will spend looking for these gorillas, upon finding them, you will be given one hour to watch them do their everyday behaviors. Move to the headquarters after your one-hour experience, meet the driver guide and drive back to the lodge.
Day 3: City tour and road trip to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Cross to the pearl of Africa Uganda, after breakfast at the lodge and checking out. Have a short ride around Kigali city to visit museums, markets but remarkably the famous Kigali Genocide Memorial Site.
Have an en-route lunch then embark on a drive crossing the border to Bwindi impenetrable national Park in Uganda where half of the remaining population of mountain gorillas live. Proceed to the lodge where your night is going to be spent.
Day 4: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi and Batwa cultural tour.
Wake up to an early breakfast, drive to headquarters of one of the sectors in Bwindi where you are going to meet the park ranger guide to take through a briefing and later lead you to the forest to trek mountain gorillas.
When you finally find them, one hour is granted to learn about their behaviors, and take photos as well. Afterwards, return to the park offices, meet the driver and transfer back to the lodge.
Day 5: Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park via Ishasha sector.
Having had breakfast in the morning, start your drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park which was given this name in honor of Queen Elizabeth’s visit to Uganda. Have an enroute lunch and then proceed on the drive.
Have a stopover in Ishasha sector for a short game drive to track the rare tree climbing lions and other animals which live in Ishasha. Continue with the drive to the lodge for dinner.
Day 6: Morning game drive and evening boat cruise.
In the morning after breakfast at the lodge, set off for a morning game drive in Kasenyi plains to have a look at animals like elephants, Uganda kobs, buffaloes, spotted hyenas, hippopotamus and many others. Keep your eyes open enough to add some birds to your checklist. Return to the lodge for lunch and later do an evening boat cruise.
On this yet another amazing boat cruise on the Kazinga channel, you will spot hippos, crocodiles, and warthogs to mention but a few, birds like fish eagles, palm nut vultures, Kingfishers and many more that spend their time on the river banks. Retreat to the lodge for dinner.
Day 7: Connect to Kibale and explore Bigodi swamp
After a morning meal, transfer from Queen Elizabeth National Park to Kibale National Park with good views of Rwenzori ranges, local homesteads and several more. It will only be a 2 hours’ drive and check in at the lodge for lunch.
Later in the afternoon, drive to Bigodi swamp just a few kilometers from Kanyanchu visitor center for a nature walk. On the walk, you will spot primates like red-tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys, red colobus monkeys plus many swamp birds. Move back to the lodge for dinner.
Day 8: Chimpanzee trekking
Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale National Park starts with breakfast in the morning then your driver will pick you up and drive you to the Kanyanchu visitor centre where trekking starts with a briefing about what is followed and not followed during trekking. After being briefed, you will head to the tropical rainforest to search for chimpanzees.
It will take about 2-7 hours to look for the chimpanzees because they keep moving around the forest searching for food. When you come into contact with the endangered primates, you are given one hour to watch them and take photos for remembrance. When one hour is done, you will move back to the offices to meet the driver and travel back back to the lodge.
Day 9: Drive to Kampala and fly to Nairobi, Kenya.
Breakfast in the morning, check out from the lodge and drive to Kampala via Fort portal tourism city and you will have your stop over for a city tour. Reach places like the King’s Palace, and Karambi tombs, visit Amabere caves and have lunch from any local restaurant. Proceed with the journey to Kampala. Reach the airport in Entebbe then immediately fly to Nairobi where our company driver guide will pick you up and transfer you to the hotel for your night.
Day 10: Drive to Amboseli national park.
Wake up from your deep slumber, have the sweet breakfast from the lodge then set off for a 5 hours’ journey to Amboseli a park of its kind with a good and clear view of mountain Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. You will arrive early at the lodge have your lunch then in the evening do a game drive to spot many animals in the park.
Day 11: Full-day game viewing in Amboseli National Park
A day spent in Amboseli National Park gives you a memory for life. You will wake up in the morning have your breakfast head for a full day game drive in Amboseli national Park, you are going to have stunning views of animals like lions, leopards, elephants, wild dogs, cheaters, buffaloes, giraffes, crocodiles and many more animals. You are going to have a Bush lunch from the Park as you view Mt. Kilimanjaro.
Day 12: Drive from Amboseli to Lake Nakuru
Be served very early in the morning with breakfast then start driving to the southern part of Kenya where Lake Nakuru is situated. This lake is a soda lake which attracts millions of flamingos to come on it mostly during the dry months of the year because of the availability of feeds for them to feed. Check-in at the hotel for lunch and then an evening game drive In the Park.
Look out for animals like zebras, waterbucks, black and white rhinos, birds especially flamingos that cover the whole surface of the lake and many other species of animals. Return to the lodge for dinner.
Day 13: Game drive and connect to Masai Mara.
You have a morning game drive after having a delicious breakfast at the lodge and you will be able to spot animals that you missed seeing on your evening game drive. Go back to the lodge for lunch, after checking out from the lodge and drive to Masai Mara game reserves where you will view the wildebeest migrations and have a look at the big five animals.
Day 14: Full day in Masai Mara
This will be the day you will never forget in your lifetime when you watch millions of wildebeests with thousands of zebras crossing from Serengeti to Masai Mara with attacks from the crocodiles in the rivers. You can also have hot air ballooning where you will view the game from above. Watch for the big five animals which are; buffaloes, elephants, lions, leopards and rhinos.
Also, animals like hyenas, zebras, warthogs, antelope species, jackals, wild dogs and a variety of birds can be spotted here. Drive to the lodge.
Day 15: Travel back to Nairobi and fly back
Wake up in the morning have your breakfast check out from the accommodation then the driver guide will pick you up and drive you to Nairobi International Airport for your flight back home. Optional city tour around Nairobi is recommended.
