15-Day Africa Group Safari: Gorilla Trekking & Wildlife Adventure

This safari will take you to three countries in East Africa for various activities. In Uganda – the Pearl of Africa, you’ll visit three national parks: Bwindi for mountain gorilla trekking, Kibale National Park for chimpanzee trekking, and Queen Elizabeth National Park for a boat cruise and game drive.

Rwanda – the land of a thousand hills, is home to Volcanoes National Park, one of the world’s gorilla destinations. You’ll participate in mountain gorilla trekking and enjoy a city tour of Kigali.

While in Kenya, you will visit Amboseli National Park with excellent views of Mount Kilimanjaro, Lake Nakuru – a soda lake that attracts millions of flamingos, and Masai Mara Game Reserve for the wildebeest migration.

Detailed Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Welcome to Rwanda! Meet our company driver guide who will provide a brief about this 15-day Uganda Rwanda gorilla and wildebeest migration safari. Then, transfer to the hotel for lunch.

After lunch, continue to Volcanoes National Park, where mountain gorillas reside. The drive takes 2-3 hours. Check-in at the hotel.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

Wake up early for breakfast. Meet the driver for a transfer to park headquarters for a briefing on mountain gorilla trekking. After the briefing, you will be assigned a ranger guide to assist in finding the allocated gorilla family.

Navigate through the trails, hike through jungles, and descend valleys in search of mountain gorillas. The duration of the trek can vary as the gorillas move in search of food.

Upon locating them, spend an hour observing their behavior. Return to the headquarters, meet the driver guide, and drive back to the lodge.

Day 3: City Tour and Road Trip to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Cross into Uganda, the Pearl of Africa, after breakfast and checking out. Take a short tour around Kigali city, visiting museums and markets, notably the Kigali Genocide Memorial Site.

Have lunch en route before proceeding to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda, home to half of the remaining mountain gorilla population. Check into your lodge.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi and Batwa Cultural Tour

Enjoy an early breakfast, then drive to one of the sectors in Bwindi for a briefing with a park ranger guide before embarking on a mountain gorilla trek.

Spend an hour observing and photographing these majestic creatures upon finding them. Return to the park offices, meet the driver, and transfer back to the lodge.

Day 5: Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park via Ishasha Sector

After breakfast, drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, named in honor of Queen Elizabeth II’s visit to Uganda. Enjoy lunch en route and stop in Ishasha sector for a short game drive to see the rare tree-climbing lions and other wildlife.

Continue to the lodge for dinner.

Day 6: Morning Game Drive and Evening Boat Cruise

After breakfast, embark on a morning game drive in Kasenyi plains to view animals like elephants, Uganda kobs, buffaloes, hyenas, and hippopotamuses. Spot various bird species as well. Return to the lodge for lunch and later, enjoy an evening boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel.

Spot hippos, crocodiles, and numerous bird species such as fish eagles and Kingfishers along the riverbanks. Return to the lodge for dinner.

Day 7: Transfer to Kibale and Explore Bigodi Swamp

Transfer from Queen Elizabeth National Park to Kibale National Park after breakfast, enjoying views of the Rwenzori ranges and local homesteads along the way. It’s a short 2-hour drive to the lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, visit Bigodi Swamp, a short distance from Kanyanchu Visitor Center, for a nature walk. Encounter primates like red-tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, and various swamp birds. Return to the lodge for dinner.

Day 8: Chimpanzee Trekking

Start your day with breakfast, then your driver will take you to Kanyanchu Visitor Centre for a briefing before chimpanzee trekking in Kibale National Park. Trek through the tropical rainforest in search of chimpanzees.

Trekking can take 2-7 hours as chimpanzees move around in search of food. Spend an hour observing and photographing these endangered primates. Return to the offices, meet the driver, and transfer back to the lodge.

Day 9: Drive to Kampala and Fly to Nairobi, Kenya

After breakfast, check out from the lodge and drive to Kampala via Fort Portal tourism city. Enjoy a city tour visiting places like the King’s Palace, Karambi Tombs, and Amabere Caves. Have lunch at a local restaurant and continue to Kampala. Reach Entebbe Airport for your flight to Nairobi, where our driver guide will transfer you to the hotel for the night.

Day 10: Drive to Amboseli National Park

After breakfast, embark on a 5-hour journey to Amboseli National Park, renowned for its spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. Arrive early at the lodge for lunch, followed by an evening game drive to spot wildlife in the park.

Day 11: Full-Day Game Viewing in Amboseli National Park

Enjoy a full day of game viewing in Amboseli National Park. Spot animals like lions, leopards, elephants, wild dogs, cheetahs, buffaloes, giraffes, crocodiles, and many more. Have a bush lunch in the park with views of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Day 12: Drive from Amboseli to Lake Nakuru

Have an early breakfast, then drive south to Lake Nakuru, a soda lake that attracts millions of flamingos, especially during the dry months. Check into the hotel for lunch and later, enjoy an evening game drive in the park.

Look out for zebras, waterbucks, black and white rhinos, and numerous bird species, including flamingos covering the lake’s surface. Return to the lodge for dinner.

Day 13: Game Drive and Transfer to Masai Mara

After breakfast, embark on a morning game drive to spot animals missed during the evening drive. Return to the lodge for lunch, then check out and drive to Masai Mara Game Reserve to witness the wildebeest migration and encounter the Big Five animals.

Day 14: Full Day in Masai Mara

This unforgettable day includes witnessing millions of wildebeests and thousands of zebras crossing from Serengeti to Masai Mara, facing challenges from crocodiles in the rivers. Opt for a hot air balloon ride for an aerial view of the game. Spot the Big Five – buffaloes, elephants, lions, leopards, and rhinos – along with hyenas, zebras, warthogs, antelope species, jackals, wild dogs, and various birds. Return to the lodge.

Day 15: Return to Nairobi and Departure

Enjoy breakfast, check out from the accommodation, and our driver guide will transfer you to Nairobi International Airport for your return flight home. Optionally, explore Nairobi on a city tour.
