Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Kigali Airport and Transfer to Akagera National Park

Upon arrival at the airport, our driver guide warmly welcomes you and drives you to the nearest hotel for breakfast. After a quick briefing session about the safari, set off on a journey to Akagera National Park.

As soon as you enter the park, you will be greeted by a gang of wildlife. Continue to check in at the booked lodge for a late lunch and relax for the next day’s activities.

Day 2: Morning Game Drive and Boat Cruise

Animals are most active early morning and late evening when they are rushing for breakfast and dinner respectively. On this day, enjoy a bush breakfast and a spine-tingling experience with early risers, mostly predators on the hunt like lions, hyenas, leopards, and others, including African elephants, buffalo, rhinos, bushbuck, warthogs, and many more. Bird lovers will have a chance to spot big birds during this game drive to expand their bird checklist.

Afterwards, return to the hotel for lunch and prepare for an afternoon boat cruise on Lake Ihema. Enjoy the breeze and freshness while spotting water animals like hippos and crocodiles, along with beautiful bird species, mostly water birds such as marabou storks, open-billed storks, African fish eagles, herons, cormorants, and more. Retreat to the lodge after the cruise for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer Back to Kigali

This is your last day in Akagera National Park. After breakfast, embark on your journey back to Kigali. Enjoy a short tour around the city as you wait for your flight. Optionally, visit Gisozi Genocide Museum, Presidential Palace Museum, art museum, then head for lunch before flying back home.
