This 4-day Tanzania safari takes you to three of the country’s top wildlife destinations: Lake Manyara National Park, Serengeti National Park, and Ngorongoro Crater. The safari offers a rare chance to see the Big Five animals, including tree climbing lions, and to follow the great wildebeest movement across open plains. Tanzania is well known for clear wildlife viewing in protected areas, making this short safari ideal for travelers who want strong game viewing in a limited time.
Day 1: Transfer to Lake Manyara National Park
In the morning, depart from Arusha and drive to Lake Manyara National Park, about 126 kilometers away. This park lies along the Great Rift Valley and is known for tree climbing lions and large elephant groups.
On arrival, begin a game drive with a picnic lunch inside the park. During the drive, you may see elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, impalas, and warthogs. Primates such as blue monkeys and baboons are also common. The park is home to many bird species, including flamingos near the lake. The vegetation is mainly acacia and mahogany trees. After the game drive, exit the park and transfer to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Transfer to Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, leave Lake Manyara and drive toward Serengeti National Park, passing through Karatu town and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Arrive in Serengeti around midday and head to the central Seronera area, which has a permanent water source from the Seronera River.
Have lunch at the lodge, then go out for an afternoon game drive. Animals often seen in this area include lions, elephants, wildebeest, zebras, impalas, hyenas, giraffes, and many birds. Continue the drive until late evening, then return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Morning Game Drive and Transfer to Ngorongoro Area
Enjoy an early breakfast and head out for a morning game drive in Serengeti. This drive gives you another chance to see animals that may have been missed the previous day. Early hours are good for spotting predators returning from hunting.
After the game drive, leave Serengeti and travel toward the Ngorongoro area. Arrive at your lodge near the crater rim later in the day. Check in, relax, enjoy dinner, and stay overnight.
Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater Tour and Return to Arusha
Wake up early, have breakfast, and descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a full day wildlife tour. The crater is the largest inactive and intact volcanic caldera in the world, covering about 260 square kilometers.
During the game drive, you may see buffaloes, elephants, black rhinos, lions, cheetahs, hyenas, zebras, and hippos. Enjoy a picnic lunch on the crater floor. In the afternoon, drive out of the crater and return to Arusha, marking the end of your 4-day Tanzania safari.
