Lake Mburo National Park is the easiest national park to reach from Kampala, Uganda’s capital city. The drive takes about four hours by road, making it ideal for short safaris. Although it is one of Uganda’s smaller parks, it supports a wide range of wildlife that attracts visitors on an African safari. This 3-day Lake Mburo National Park safari takes you to western Uganda for guided wildlife viewing and relaxing outdoor activities.
Lake Mburo National Park covers about 260 square kilometres. The landscape includes rocky outcrops, open grassland, acacia woodland, lakes, swamps, valleys, and gentle hills. The park is known for its many antelope species such as impalas, sitatungas, topis, bushbucks, reedbucks, elands, and waterbucks. Other mammals found here include zebras, buffaloes, hippos, crocodiles, side-striped jackals, baboons, otters, white-tailed mongoose, bush pigs, hyenas, vervet monkeys, and leopards. More than 350 bird species have been recorded in the park, making it a good place for bird watching.
Despite its small size, Lake Mburo National Park offers several safari activities. These include game drives, boat cruises, guided nature walks, cycling safaris, horseback riding, quad biking, bird watching, and sport fishing.
