6-Day Murchison Falls & Bwindi Gorilla Safari

The 6 Days Murchison Falls National Park and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park safari is one of the most rewarding wildlife and primate experiences in Uganda, the Pearl of Africa. This journey combines classic savanna wildlife viewing with unforgettable mountain gorilla trekking.

You will travel through Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to track rhinos, explore Murchison Falls National Park for game drives and a Nile boat cruise, and end in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for mountain gorilla trekking. The safari ends at Entebbe International Airport.

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe Airport and Transfer to Kampala Hotel

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be met by a professional driver guide or company representative. You will receive a short briefing about your 6 days Murchison Falls National Park and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park safari. After the briefing, drive to your pre-booked hotel in Kampala or Entebbe depending on your arrival time. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

After breakfast, begin the drive to Murchison Falls National Park. The journey takes about six to seven hours. En route, stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino trekking. This activity lasts about two to three hours and starts with a short briefing from a sanctuary ranger.

Walk through the sanctuary with an armed guide to track white rhinos in their natural area. After the activity, enjoy time for photos and videos before continuing your journey north. Proceed to Murchison Falls National Park and check in at your lodge. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 3: Morning Game Drive and Afternoon Boat Cruise

Enjoy breakfast at the lodge, then head out for a morning game drive in Murchison Falls National Park. The drive gives you chances to see elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, lions, antelopes, and many bird species. The open savanna and woodland areas offer good wildlife viewing.

Return to the lodge for lunch and rest. In the afternoon, take a boat cruise on the Nile River starting from the Paraa area. The cruise lasts two to three hours and brings you close to hippos, crocodiles, and animals that come to the riverbanks to drink water. After the cruise, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Transfer from Murchison Falls National Park to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After an early breakfast, depart Murchison Falls National Park and drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southwestern Uganda. This is a long drive that takes about ten hours, with lunch en route. Enjoy views of changing landscapes, local towns, and countryside along the way.

Arrive in Bwindi in the evening and check in at your lodge. Dinner and overnight stay near the park.

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

This day is the highlight of your safari. After breakfast, drive to the park headquarters for a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. The briefing explains gorilla trekking rules and safety guidelines.

After the briefing, you will be assigned a gorilla family and start trekking into the forest with an experienced guide. Gorilla trekking can take between one and seven hours depending on the location of the gorillas. Once found, you will spend one hour observing them, taking photos, and watching their behavior.

After the trek, return to the park offices to receive your gorilla trekking certificate. Drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Transfer to Entebbe Airport and Departure

After breakfast, check out of the lodge and begin the drive back to Kampala and Entebbe. Stop at the Equator in Kayabwe for photos and a short break. Continue to Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight.
